grum is turning 30! And you’re ALL invited!

Yep! Its true that the most eligible guy in Perth (that grum guy) is turning the big three oh in August and he has decided for the first time in what seems like years to actually bother organising a shindig that will be remembered for generations.

Who the hell is grum?

What’s that? You don’t know who grum is? Well, nobody really is sure what a grum is. This occasionally hairy beast can be seen all around the internet and throughout Perth. To most, he seems to be that guy that everybody seems to know and wishes they didn’t. You can find him on this strange Facebook thing here or this new website that seems to be catching on with the kids called Twitter.

The official date of grum’s 30th will be the 13th of August but grum will be heading overseas to celebrate his birthday in Indonesia so we shall be celebrating this event a few days earlier on the 8th of August. A couple of people have asked grum if they can lavish him with gifts like strippers and giant bottles of liquor, but please, no gifts. grum simply wants to see your bright and cheerful smile, however if you absolutely insist on giving him some lovin’, why not donate to the “Get-grum-really-really-drunk-in-Bali fund”.

All proceeds to this fund will be converted into alcoholic substances which will then be fed to the aforementioned grum in a strange foreign land called Kuta Beach. These events will be filmed as part of a video blog that grum is having for his birthday trip and should appear on the net (assuming customs don’t confiscate any offending footage).

So what’s the dealio then?

Because grum has decided to turn this momentous occasion into a Twitter meet-up, he has enlisted the help of fellow twitterer @harrysbarperth to supply the venue for the night. Happy hour will hit at 6PM with $8 cocktails and there will be plenty of things to eat in the dining area. A live band will kick off at 9PM and for those of you out there who want to sing for yourselves, there are Karaoke lounges right accross the road.

Pics from the Triple Banger Birthday Beats & Beverages Bash!

Friday nights PTUB was an absolute HUGE success with at least seven billion Twitterers descending upon Mt Lawley to celebrate the awesomeness that is the Perth Twitter Underground Brigade (number slightly exaggerated for effect).

Party-goers started at about 6PM on Friday night and kept on going till just before 6AM Saturday morning. A collective twenty five trillion brain cells were demolished – possibly, I really don’t know however its taken me about 15 mins to write this blog post so perhaps I should just end this paragraph right at this full stop.

The PTUB Triple Banger Edition!

The 26th of June.

Wow. What a day it will be.

To apple fanboys it will be celebrated as the day that the jesusPhone 3GS will be released in Australia. To Madagascans it will be their Independence Day. To the Perth Twitter Underground Brigade, it will be known as the greatest day ever to be had in the entire Twitterverse.

Originally when I planned this, it was going to be dinner and dancing at some dodgy pub round the corner from my place. I was going to get random Twitterers drunk and I was going to do bad things to them. But then young @yolie81 and @fruityalexia decided to be born a couple of years ago in the month of June and started to organise a party to celebrate this. So I put my plans on hold and suggested that all of the Perth twittersphere be invited to this momentous event.

A handful of decades earlier, @richardgiles decided to be born and also decided to hold a soiree to celebrate this special event, so our PTUB event was then split into two. But silly me! How could I have forgotten @guilthatenfear, @coliwilso, @hallowdbemyname and @jackienopants’s pending arrival in Perth from the eastern states? @Viennah certainly didn’t and promptly organised a Twitter meetup for them as well.

SO – here’s the deal:

Friday night will host 3 events that the entire population of Twitter is invited to!

Part 1: Dinner downstairs at the Queens hotel to celebrate @guilthatenfear, @coliwilso, @hallowdbemyname and @jackienopants’s visit to Perth.

Part 2: Drinks and dancing at the Flying Scotto for @yolie81 and @fruityalexia’s combined birthdays.

Part 3: MORE Drinks and dancing upstairs at the Queens for @richardgiles’ birthday.

Part 1’s dinner at the Queens will begin at 6:30. For those eager for a chinwag, feel free to pop into the pub at 6:00. Parts 2 and 3 both start at 8:00. Both pubs are within stumbling distance of each other so no need to stress.
